INDIANAPOLIS — Layered Solutions, an Indianapolis-based provider of integrated emergency and routine communications, was chosen to update school intercom systems for the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township, Indiana. In doing so, school staff will have two-way communications from classrooms to front desks. The technology will also enable school leaders to communicate more easily and consistently districtwide.
The move comes from a desire to increase the reach and speed of communications among Lawrence Township schools, said Rick Wagner, vice president of sales at Layered Solutions: “District leaders wanted a way to communicate more easily and faster — both within individual schools and across the district.”
To make that possible, MSD of Lawrence leaders chose Layered Solutions to implement a full, IP-based intercom system: a solution known for easy installation, scalability and affordability.
Currently, Layered Solutions is implementing the technology in five MSD of Lawrence Township schools. Full implementation across all schools in the district will be gradual over the next several years. Layered Solutions is also helping the district prepare for numerous enhancements including mobile apps, PC alerts, cameras, active shooter detection, fire alarm and other integrations.
“We are pleased to work with Layered Solutions to support the Information Technology Department’s mission of providing technical solutions that meet the needs of staff and students,” says MSD of Lawrence Township Chief Technology Officer, Mr. Michael Bottorff, CETL. “We believe this system will enhance student safety and provide a long-term communications solution within our buildings.”
“We’ve earned a reputation for helping schools integrate disparate technologies so they can magnify communications and emergency response capabilities without a massive investment,” said Wagner. “We’re honored to help the MSD of Lawrence Township respond more effectively to evolving conditions as they keep staff and students safe.”
